“…this love will be the death of me…” -Stars Dance

I’M BACK!!!! Hiatus was unintended, but that’s life, isn’t it? Hope you can forgive the time I spent away, I know I was constantly in your thoughts for all that time 😉 haha, please enjoy the following random thoughts of my day.

1. Educate Yourself with these FREE Online Courses…For Real

Unbelievably, the education system offers FREE courses all over the internet, you just need to know where to find it. I never thought I would see the day where the business-like and money hungry college/university system would offer a way to learn for free. Now, I do realize it began this way; however, never in my lifetime has it been a free product to us. I decided to look into this specific course about Social Media because surprise, surprise, it’s becoming a new job role in the communications world. I sifted through the countless courses offered and was pleasantly shocked to see that Yale, Johns Hopkins, and UMass all were on the list of providers. So, get your brains out there and learn something new…for FREE!

2. Health-ified Coconut Macaroons

I follow quite a few food bloggers out there on the worldwide web, and PeanutButterandPeppers rarely disappoints with her healthier versions of long-time favorites. I have attempted quite a few of her creations and can honestly say they are pretty darn yummy. I am thinking about testing out an off-hand mugcake using the basis of this recipe to get the coconut macaroon flavor in the form of a mini cake. If all goes well, I am sure it will be on a future post, or at least on my Instagram feed 🙂

3. Jump Rope Circuit Workout

Another blog topic I tend to follow is fitness/workout ideas and ironic enough, PeanutButterFingers is the origin of this workout I came across. I’m not sure if this is the world’s way of telling me that I am addicted to all things Peanut Butter related (although, I already am aware of this small addiction) but you can’t stop shouting, I hear you loud and clear! Anyways, this workout sounds like a doozy, but I am interested to say the least to see how grueling it really is when put to the test. Perhaps I shall give it a go?! Wish me luck.

“I will buy you that big house way up in the west hills…” -Everclear

Well, I have returned to the land of blogging and unfortunately don’t have much of an excuse for the hiatus other than a little case of life. When you see the face of the person you love for the first time in 40-ish days, it takes a second to go back to reality once they leave again; therefore, I’ll consider that my excuse in a nutshell, I suppose. Along with a pitiful excuse, I will also provide a bit of friendly advice: LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS ARE FOR THE BIRDS! Avoid if possible and if inevitable, wear a seat belt and prepare for a tumultuous (yet HOPEFULLY worth it) ride. Okay, now that I’ve gotten that out of my system…let us proceed with the daily three 🙂

1. NERDS Cereal – circa 1986

Thanks to an email from Mental_Floss,  I now know all there is to know about candy history and you can too with 3 easy payments of….haha just kidding! After watching the Nerds Cereal commercial, I couldn’t help but transition into the commercial salesperson voice. I will attach both videos for your enjoyment, I highly suggest watching the ’38 Sweet Facts About Candy’ video, it’s pretty amazing that they were able to uncover that many INTERESTING facts about candy. As for the Nerds cereal commercial, other than my disbelief that such a product ever existed, I was appalled by how far we’ve come in television. Originally, when I saw 1986 as the date of the commercial, I thought, ‘eh, that’s not too long ago’ however after watching, I was shocked by the ancient-ness. So, if you have some time grab a piece of candy, put your feet up, and learn something….sounds like a sweet deal to me!

2. Sweet Potato with Torched Marshmallow Ice Cream

I ceam

Damn you, Jeni! As in, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, Jeni. I cannot handle all of her mouth-watering creations. I think if I had the money (and a never changing waistline) I would eat her ice cream everyday! If you’ve never heard of this place, you either live under a rock or have somehow managed to block all channels of goodness from your life. I sincerely hope you suffer from the rock life rather than the latter option. Anyways, if you want to check out some of her other flavors, while simultaneously developing the inevitable ice cream craving, go ahead and be brave…Jeni knows her stuff.

3. Sexy Halloween Costumes that SHOULDN’T Be

Getting into the Holiday mindset, I stumbled upon this website that provides an array of infographics about all things Halloween costume related. I couldn’t help but gravitate to this specific one because how many times have you seen the moron female who thought it’d be cool to dress DOWN a certain costume in the attempt to win ‘Sluttiest Costume Wearer of the Year’ and choose a totally asinine character/person. For example: A Geisha. If you’re going to dress up like a whore, just be a normal whore….you can still wear ‘the less is more’ costume you thought up, but drop the Asian reference, there’s no need to layer on your point so thick 🙂

1. 1959 Mercedes Benz 220SE For Sale

For a cool $59,500, this beaut could be all yours! I was flipping through the October issue of Automobile Magazine when I came across this magnificent classic. I decided to see what the going price is these days for such an old relic…give or take a couple dollas, it was about what I expected. I am no car buff by any means, but I can appreciate a nice looking car from time to time. Hope you enjoy it as well!

2. Everyday Things that ONLY Happen in Film

My friend sent me the link to this funny, yet very honest, article and I couldn’t help but share with others. Out of the ten ‘occurrences’ listed, I thought this one really nailed it. I automatically thought about all the times I have taken a shower and, along with the irrational paranoia of being murdered,  could have heard a pin drop. I know the shower does drown out some noise, but I’ll be damned if I get murdered while washing my behind…there’s no way someone is going to completely sneak up on me without any type of warning sound and I don’t know about you, but I generally lock the door out of fear of being walked in on predisposed…so if someone manages to enter unbeknownst to me after breaking in, then perhaps I deserve my impending demise.

3. Ice, Salt, and Watercolor Craft

As I searched for preschool craft ideas, I found this sweet idea. It’s amazing how such basic products can create beautiful pieces of (melting) art. I would love to be able to do this with my group of kids, but we just don’t have the amount of time, nor the space to do such a messy craft. Oh well, maybe one day…

“Don’t Let the Days Go By…” -Bush

I apologize for the 5 day hiatus…however, I feel this apology is solely to myself considering this blog is not exactly popular but it is an apology nonetheless. Surprisingly, I actually missed my daily ritual of posting the top three mental musings. I thought that I would burn out of this habit quickly; though, I think the task is somewhat cathartic so maybe it will stick?! We shall see.

1. The “VICIOUS” Pitbull…

I came across this article while using Stumbleupon…blast that website!!!! It is too freaking addictive and I find myself bouncing from one mode of thought to another due to being ‘forcefully’ brought to the attention of my cerebrum. AKA, I did not truly come to this thought process on my own. Based off of my preferences, Stumbleupon deemed this article relevant…and SURPRISE! they were right.

This article makes a mockery of the unfair stereotype that Pitbull’s have earned by giving an example of an overactive imagination. People always jump to the conclusion that Pitbulls=BIG SCARY DOGS and forget that the dog’s demeanor truly relies on the owners training. I am going to stop on this note before I make myself sound like an animal rights activist and go on a real tangent. The last thing I’ll say is, not ALL Pitbulls are owned by the likes of Michael Vick 🙂

2. Mini Grilled Cheese Waffle Sandwiches

Welp, Kelloggs did it again. Took something super basic and made it look like the yummiest idea of all time…or at least it does at the moment. It’s no shock that this thought process was spurred by my hunger, but I will say I was not dreaming about grilled cheese. I was looking up dessert recipes using Kellogg’s cereal and this picture came across the screen like, “yo, you know you want a piece of me!” Okay. Not really, but as far as appetites go, it was a pretty tormenting picture, right?

3. DIY Friendship Bracelet Tutorial

Obviously, my mind was thinking about making bracelets at this point of my day. Now, as for how my brain went down that track, I think I shall blame it on being a victim of consumerism. Damn those emails selling me stuff ALL DAY, EVERY DAY! Luckily, this time I was the victor and decided to take things into my own hands…quite literally. After finding this chevron style tutorial online, I attempted to make my own, you can form your own opinion based off the picture below…

I won’t lie, I’m slightly proud of my ability to follow instructions and I am considering wearing it. Your turn to take a stab at it!

1. Sweet Potato Veggie Burgers with Avocado

For once, I can honestly say I was not thinking about food when I came across this article. Contrarily, I had just returned from lunch and was happily content, almost to the point of being too content 🙂 So, as I opened up the Yahoo! home page I was bombarded by this amazing looking sandwich and just HAD to click on it. I am happy that I did because I definitely would like to make one of these in the near future…maybe when my appetite resurfaces?!

BTW: After perusing through the comments under the article, I learned that omitting the egg and substituting unsweetened shredded coconut for the panko crumbs seemed to make this burger taste ten times better! Why not try it?!

2. Make Your Own Flip Book

I came across the link to this website while scanning the Tech articles on ‘Babble’ and thought it sounded fun. Little did I know, I have no patience to create a semi-coherent flip book even with a child-friendly website! I attempted making a flip book twice and let’s just say it was PATHETIC. Instead of burning your retinas with a screenshot of my flip book disasters, I took a screenshot of a previously made animation. I have no idea how this person made a unicorn number one, and then to top it off with a waving mane with twinkling stars…. it literally makes me wonder what part of the instructions I failed to read. If you so choose to craft your own flip book, I hope you have a much more successful outcome. Godspeed!

3. Marina Bay Sands – Singapore Resort

Yahoo! assumes credit once again for this stimulus of the day…and how could it not with such enticing views?! The original post that I eventually deviated from was about the best “Views from the Top”, aka Ferris Wheels. The final wheel listed was the Singapore Flyer, which is pretty awesome too if you have some time to look that up. In the pictures with the epic ferris wheel, I saw this illuminated three pillar building and became curious as to what it is. Through a bit of light reading, I discovered that this futuristic building was built in 2010 and has become one of the most highly trafficked casinos/resorts internationally.

Also, this resort is known for its Infinity Pool on the sky deck…

I wonder why?

Hey Jude

First off, I want to say that my blog title has absolutely no relevance to the following post…it is simply the first song that popped into my head and I’m hoping it will send your mind down some unexpected path or perhaps create a bit of nostalgia for your enjoyment. I will most likely use a song title or song lyrics for all of my titles from here on out so hopefully it doesn’t bother you too much!

Let us proceed with the days’ thoughts and findings…

1.  Vintage Aurora Borealis Statement Necklace

I will have to blame Etsy for this train of thought…if it weren’t for those damn emails I never would have lusted after such a beautiful necklace (which at a hefty $149 a pop, I cannot/will not be buying one any time soon). The theme of the email was “Prisms” and the fact that Etsy thought to include searches under ‘Aurora Borealis’ was pretty genius. Soon after looking at this necklace, my brain jumped over to wanting to know more about the actual ‘Aurora Borealis’; therefore, I will choose to appreciate Etsy’s daily email just this once because I was also given the opportunity to explore one of nature’s most beautiful occurrences.

2. The Bloody Brilliant Reason Pirates Wore Eye Patches

Yet another thought product of a daily email, this time from “Mental_Floss”, is this trivia-friendly article about why exactly Pirates wore eye patches. As a kid, I always assumed it was because it made them look bad-ass or, pardon the inappropriate pun, they really ‘saw’ the world through their countless expeditions. Tagging onto my simple-minded view is the possibility that these bad-ass pirates were actually extremely intuitive and great innovators. The eye patches allowed their eyes a more simple adjustment from the bright reflections of the sun on the water to the pitch black darkness of the night. Without the use of these patches, the rate of eye degeneration would have doubled, if not tripled. So, if you ever find yourself stranded on a boat for a long period of time, do yourself a favor and craft a makeshift eye patch, savvy?

3. How Often Do You Feed the Magic Pixies…?

This is going to be a bit of a toughie to explain in terms of logic, so just throw that out the window. While texting my boyfriend, I asked him how his day was and his reply was, “Pretty much filled with happiness and pixie feeding.” Now, I just want to assure you that he is not a stoner, nor is he a total nutcase….BUT, tonight, I think he might have cracked a little bit. Regardless, my brain instantly wondered what pixie feeding entails and this link I found truly made me giggle. I’m not saying this flow of thinking was very educational as a result, but I will gladly accept a small dose of humor any day of the week. Hope you cracked a smile too 🙂

My First ‘Top 3’ of the Day

If you didn’t get a chance to read my ‘About Me’ section, my blog is a daily chronicle of my various thoughts and findings via internet. I will share 3 or more websites I come across during my time on the web and try to recall why exactly I ended up there. A bit of psychological delving, as well as good ol’ informational stimulus for the reader.

So here goes nothing….

1. Parker’s Custom Cookies

This gem of a site was found while searching pins about Teen Activities. It was on my main board space before my search was started. There truly was no thought process leading up to this find, I suppose I could call it a stroke of luck! I’m not sure that I would consider this as a favor for my wedding or any party that garners favors, but I do think they are fun and would love to bite off my own head some time.

2. Comedian, Louis C. K., Disparages Smartphone Dependency

I received the link to this video/article from an email about current events and trends. I felt like he had some relevant points pertaining to the current issues related to smartphones, i.e., Texting while Driving and Emotional Desensitization. I know first hand that I am more apt to send a butthole text here and there than I am to actually say something butthole-ish. However, I shall stop before I begin a soliloquy on cell-phones because who has time for that when you have messages to send…while driving nonetheless?!

3. 5 Minute Smores’ in a Mug Cake

Of course, as I waited patiently for my dinner break my mind shifted over to food…SWEET food to be precise. Another email is the cause for this search. I saw a picture of chocolate and I also so a picture of a mug, so obviously my mind ventured to CHOCOLATE MUG! I have made a couple of cake mug creations in the past so don’t be alarmed by my seemingly odd mode of thought.  After reading the headline to this recipe, I couldn’t help but take a peek…and lick my lips. Thought it was worth sharing, maybe somebody will actually gather up the strength to concoct such a difficult dessert 😉
